Not I don't believe she has discomforts but because I have faith in my prayers that God will protect and preserve her life from day to day. Something I think she has a hard time with. Anyway, I love her deeply and I'm grateful for her incredible life. She's been an inspiration to me my whole life. She came to this country with little education, not knowing the English language and the only skill she knew was being a homemaker. I learned so much from her about hard work, adversity and rising to the challenges life brings. I never heard her complain about what she had to do to survive. She just did what she had to do. I'm sure in her quiet moments she shed many tears, said many prayers, felt fear and loneliness. Something that as self-centered teenager I couldn't appreciate.
When I was 13 our father died and she became a single parent of four teenagers. Even though we weren't bad kids we were still a challenge. I can't even imagine how she felt with all the responsibility that now rested on her shoulders. I can tell you that she has been a hard worker her whole life. We never went hungry, we always had clothes to wear, and a home to live in. I'm sure we qualified for every government program there was but my mother managed to do it all on her own.
She is the most selfless person I know. Even when she doesn't have much she still wants to give all she can. When my children were younger she did so much for them and still continues to give them all she can. She took care of our grandmother until the day she died. Never wanting her to go to a nursing home. She actually nursed her back to health when the doctors said my grandmother would never walk again.
Her grandchildren are her pride and joy. They are an extension of her love. Supporting them in all the important
milestones. Graduations, baptisms, weddings, and anything else that's important in their lives. One thing my girls appreciate is that she collects quarters for their laundry. It may seem like such a small thing but it means the world to my girls.I know there are times she doesn't feel appreciated but we do appreciate her more than she knows. I'm sure we can all do a better job of showing her we love and appreciate her. The truth is I wish I could spend more time with her. I know I won't have her forever and would be nice to be closer.
It's funny that as mothers we are so hard on ourselves. We think that we have to be so perfect. We can only do the best we know how. That's what my mother has done. The best she could do with the lot she has been given. What more can you ask for? I could never ask for more. I love her just the way she is however imperfect she may be. I appreciate all the sacrifices she has made on my behalf and all I've done is try to make her proud. Though I didn't understand the depth of her struggles I never wanted to be one of her hardships. There is no doubt I gave her many concerns.

I know she never stops worrying about her family. Sometimes more than she needs but I know it comes from the depths of her love for all of us. I don't think that will ever change. I've learn to accept that. So, all we can do is use the faith we know so well and pray that she can be blessed with peace of mind and comfort that only the spirit of Lord can give.
I really hope that life someday will bring me closer in distance to my mother. But if not, I will make a better effort to spend as much time with her as I can. She's a very important part of my Life.
It's times like this that you realize the value of a life. Something I rather understand now while we still have her with us. Anyway, I hope my Mother knows how much I love her. I hope I show it enough, I hope I say it enough. I wouldn't want to assume it.
I love you Mother, and I appreciate your life, your example and all that you've done for me and our whole family. God bless you with good health, joy and many, many more wonderful years with those who love you!! Happy Birthday!!!
