Chicago Part One

As some of you may know we recently took a trip to the New England area. This is Alan waiting for our flight to Minneapolis. We were so tired because we were up all night packing and trying to get the house in order. I wanted the house cleaned and in order for my friend Joy who was staying with the boys. Of course I didn't get everything done that I wanted to get done. Alan got about two hours of sleep and I didn't get any sleep at all. We had to be at the airport at 6:00 a.m. That's about the time I was ready to crash!
We met our Holiday Vacations tour guide and the 34 other passengers that would be traveling with us. We flew to Minneapolis and then to Chicago.

This is Marlene and her friend Terri Miller from Savage, Montana. Terri had never been on a plane. She also lost her camera on the flight toMinneapolis so I took this picture for her. When we arrived in Chicago we collected our luggage and had a bus waiting for us. We spent the day touring the city.
Marlene and Janet who is from Williston, North Dakota

This Joyce who is from Crosby, North Dakota and Mary who is from Bismarck.
Lil Zimmerman is from Bismarck and Donna Reich from Richarton, North Dakota. They are cousins. Traveling together was not planned.
Jean and Jan Jasper are sisters-in-law. Jan is actually in our church ward. I was really happy to see someone I knew on the trip.
Connie and Diane have been neighbors and friends for about 12 years. They are from Powers Lake, North Dakota. They have tea parties every Wednesdays and one of these days I'm going to visit and enjoy a tea party with my new friends. They were such fun ladies.

Our first stop was at the Woodfield Mall for lunch. Alan and I ate at a pizza place where they served Chicago style pizza. The pieces were HUGE. I skipped breakfast that morning so I was pretty hungry and I ate the whole thing. So much for my quest of losing weight.Alan spotted the Cheesecake Factory and of course we had to have cheesecake. Not to worry we walked it off. The mall was so big and confusing that it took us forever to find it.
I can't remember what kind we got but it was delicious! I had the one on the right. It was as good as it looks.
Not to worry I only ate half and saved the rest for the next day. I was way too full from the pizza. That was me with my cheesecake loving face! All I can say is Yum-Yum!

This is Alan enjoying his cheesecake but I know he liked mine better. I really thought he was going to be helpful keeping my weight watcher 's goal but as you can see he was no help at all!
We loved the city of Chicago! We have driven through and around it many times on our way to Ohio. We always thought it was an ugly city but when you go to the heart of the city it really is a beautiful. There are beautiful parks and the skyline is awesome!

We made a stop at Lincoln Park, a beautiful spot somewhere in the middle of the city.

On the shore of Lake Michigan, with the city behind us.
